Balasore: In a significant dacoity, unidentified robbers broke into Odisha Gramya Bank at Khaprapada Square under Baliapal police limits in Balasore district, looting cash worth several lakhs late on Sunday night.

According to initial reports, the robbers entered the bank by breaking a window with gas cutters. It is unclear if the CCTV system inside the bank was tampered with during the heist. Bank officials are working to determine the exact amount of cash stolen.

The incident came to light early Monday when locals spotted the damaged window and alerted the bank manager and local police. Officers promptly arrived at the scene and have launched a manhunt to capture the culprits.

This robbery echoes a similar incident at the same branch five years ago. Residents in the area have raised concerns about the lack of police patrolling, citing it as a factor in the increasing crime rate. Neither police officials nor bank representatives have issued statements on the robbery at this time.
