The employee from Lucknow fell victim to a gang of poisoners in a shocking incident. After completing work at the Bank of India currency chest in Gomti Nagar Lucknow, miscreants in the Madiyaon area rendered him unconscious by making him smell a handkerchief. They robbed him of ₹4,000 and his mobile phone, leaving him semi-naked in the Saraiyan drain near Chhatha Mile.
Left in Bitter Cold, Rescued After Regaining Consciousness
The bank employee lay in the drain through the freezing night and regained consciousness on Thursday afternoon. Using a shopkeeper’s mobile phone, he contacted his wife, who promptly arranged for his transportation to a hospital for treatment.

The victim, Sunil Kumar Yadav, a resident of Awas Vikas Colony in Rameshwarpuram, Lakhimpur, holds a fourth-class position in the Lakhimpur branch of the Bank of India, overseeing currency chest operations. On Wednesday morning, he traveled to the currency chest in Gomti Nagar for official work. He left Lucknow for home at around 5 PM.
Last Contact and Suspicion
Yadav last spoke to his wife, Premlata, at 10:15 PM, informing her that he was waiting for a bus and would reach home soon. When she tried calling him again at 11 PM, his phone was switched off. After multiple failed attempts to reach him, Premlata reported the matter to the Madiyaon police station, suspecting foul play and filing a written complaint in Lakhimpur.
Police Response
Sairpur police station officials stated they had not received a written complaint. However, they were informed about the incident on Thursday after the bank manager reported the employee’s rescue. This harrowing event highlights the growing threat of criminal gangs targeting unsuspecting individuals in urban areas.
