The Bank of Baroda Officers’ Association (BOBOA), Lucknow Zone, has raised concerns about the behavior of the Regional Head of the Lucknow Metro Region (LMR). In a letter to the General Manager and Zonal Head of Bank of Baroda, the association has complained that the Regional Head has been using harsh and insulting language toward branch managers and staff, which has created a stressful and demoralizing work environment.
Incident of Public Insult
BOBOA highlighted a specific incident where the Regional Head allegedly insulted a Senior Manager in front of branch staff and customers. The Regional Head reportedly said,
“You do not work properly. How did you become a Scale 3 officer? You should have remained in Scale 1.”
The association pointed out that this particular branch had recently been appreciated and even celebrated with a cake-cutting ceremony for successfully disbursing a ₹1 crore loan. Despite this achievement, the Senior Manager was publicly humiliated, which raises concerns about the Regional Head’s leadership style and professional conduct.
Negative Impact on Employees
BOBOA stated that such behavior is harmful to the work environment. Employees feel pressured, humiliated, and discouraged, which affects their morale and productivity. The association emphasized that officers and staff work under challenging conditions to meet business targets and serve customers efficiently. Instead of being insulted, they deserve respect and constructive guidance.
As the largest association of bank officers, representing over 3.5 lakh members, BOBOA is committed to ensuring both business growth and employee well-being. They believe that officers should be supported and encouraged rather than criticized in a disrespectful manner.
Call for Immediate Action
The association has urged the Bank of Baroda management to take immediate action against the Regional Head, Lucknow Metro Region, and ensure that such incidents do not happen again. They have requested that officers and staff be treated with dignity and that a professional and respectful work environment be maintained.
BOBOA has also forwarded the complaint to the Federation of Bank of Baroda Officers’ Associations (FBOBOA) and the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), seeking intervention at higher levels.
Awaiting Response from the Bank
BOBOA is now waiting for the bank’s response and hopes for a fair and just resolution. The association has made it clear that it will continue to stand up for the rights and dignity of its members.
More updates on this issue are expected soon.
