Bank Gold Robbery: 17 Kg Gold Stolen from SBI Branch in Karnataka, Robbers arrested from UP
In connection with the theft of 17 kg of gold from a State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Davanagere district, Karnataka, police conducted a raid in Kakrala town, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday. They detained 17 individuals, but the stolen gold has not yet been recovered. The Incident
In October, thieves broke into the locker of an SBI branch in Nyamathi town, Davanagere district, Karnataka, stealing approximately 17 kg of gold. During the investigation, Karnataka Police discovered that the suspects were from Kakrala town in Badaun district, Uttar Pradesh. Acting on this lead, a police team arrived in Badaun on Friday afternoon.
The Raid
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Brijesh Kumar Singh was briefed on the case. The SSP deployed a Special Operations Group (SOG) along with officers from the Alapur police station to assist Karnataka Police. Late Friday night, the combined team conducted a raid in Kakrala and detained 17 individuals, who are now being held at an undisclosed location for questioning.
Criminal Network in Focus
Authorities revealed that the detained individuals are part of a criminal group with a history of similar crimes. Notably, these criminals target banks in other states, carrying out thefts, robberies, and dacoities far from their home district. After stealing gold or valuables, they return to Kakrala and sell the stolen goods at significantly reduced prices.

SSP Dr. Brijesh Kumar Singh stated, “The theft of gold from the bank locker in Karnataka is under investigation. Karnataka Police, in coordination with local authorities, raided Kakrala and detained several individuals. Their involvement in the incident will be confirmed after interrogation.”
The investigation is ongoing, with efforts intensifying to recover the stolen gold and dismantle the criminal network.
