Bank Employees frequently attacked in Maharashtra, Bankers demand safety in the state
Recently, there have been several incidents where bank employees in Maharashtra have been physically attacked. For example, just a few days ago, an officer from the Bank of Baroda was attacked by a group of men. Before that, a local politician slapped the manager of the Bank of Maharashtra in his office. Such incidents are highly demotivating for Bank Employees who are constantly working for the growth of the Indian Economy. - On August 30, 2024, an officer from the Bank of Baroda was assaulted by a group of 15 to 20 people in Loni Devkar, Indapur, which is in Pune district. Read more about this incident.
- Earlier, on August 13, 2024, a local leader from the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatna attacked the branch manager of the Bank of Maharashtra at the Warod Budruk Branch in Jafrabad, Jalna district. Read more about this incident.
- On June 27, 2024, a man physically harmed the branch head of the SBI Wadwani Branch in Beed district.
Moreover, the district collector from Dharashiv district has filed a police report against branch managers for low disbursement in crop loans. This action feels unfair and discouraging for the bank managers. With regards to this, now the Bank Unions have come in action. United Forum of Bank Unions has announced to conduct strike if the Maharashtra Government does not provide safety to bankers in the state. Bankers are posted thousands of kilometres away from their home city and such incidents highly demotivate them. UFBU has announced that meeting of constituent unions will be held on Monday evening and future course of action will be decided thereafter.
