Woman Files Rape Complaint Against Bank Employee in Patna

A 28-year-old student was raped in a hotel in front of Pillar Number 39 in Rajabazaar, Patna, India. The student is preparing for the SSC exam. The incident took place on Friday, September 22, 2023. The student, who lives in New Bypass, Patna, filed a written complaint at the Airport Police Station, accusing a bank employee from Purnea of rape, assault, and harassment.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Secretariat also visited the Airport Police Station on Friday to investigate the incident. He took statements from the victim.

The Additional Station House Officer (SHO) of the Airport Police Station, Randhir Kumar, said that the written complaint has been received and a case will be registered. However, he said that the matter appears to be a case of love affair at first glance.

The victim told police that she had known the accused for 15 years. He had first approached her, and they had been in a relationship for several years. He had promised to marry her, and they had even married in a temple in Patna two years ago. However, he had then abandoned her.

On Friday, the accused called the victim and asked her to go to a restaurant with him. She trusted him and went to Rajabazaar. He took her to a hotel and raped her. When she resisted, he assaulted her and fled the scene.

The accused is a resident of Purnea and works as a bank employee there.
