In a major cheating case involving ₹2.52 crores, the police have arrested six individuals, including a branch manager and a woman employee of Bandhan Bank in Nagda, Ujjain. The accused are allegedly involved in opening bank accounts for the purpose of fraud. Once the stolen money was deposited into these accounts, it was quickly withdrawn and transferred to other accounts connected to the criminals.

How the Bank Employees Were Involved in the Fraud

According to the investigation, the branch manager of Bandhan Bank, in collusion with the fraudsters, withdrew a total of ₹3 crores from the accounts that were part of the scam over a period of just three months. The bank employees were allegedly paid ₹5,000 every day by the criminals for helping with the transactions.

Investigation and Arrests

The case came to light when the Secretary of Ramakrishna Ashram Mission reported being cheated. Police officials, including SSP Dharamveer Singh and SIT in-charge Krishna Lalchandani, interrogated the suspects and presented them in court. They have been granted a 5-day remand. However, the mastermind behind the scam, Udayraj, and the Bandhan Bank office boy who opened the fraudulent accounts are still on the run.

Udayraj, the alleged mastermind of the fraud, is involved in currency exchanges, dealing in US dollars and USDT (a type of digital currency). He is suspected of converting the stolen money into digital currency and transferring it abroad. If caught, Udayraj could reveal crucial details about how the fraud was carried out on a larger scale.

Bank Account Used for the Fraud

The account in Bandhan Bank that was used to deposit the stolen ₹2.52 crore was opened only a month ago. There have been several transactions in and out of this account, with amounts linked to the fraud being transferred multiple times within a month. The police have now sent a formal request to the bank management for information on all the accounts involved in the scam.

This case highlights the serious role of bank employees in enabling fraudulent activities and the need for stricter monitoring of financial transactions to prevent such crimes.
