The All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) has strongly opposed the new transfer policy in public sector banks that DFS recently released. The association said that the new policy undermines banks’ autonomy, arguing that such decisions should be left to the banks’ management and not dictated by the finance ministry. The association criticized the guidelines as “unnecessary micromanagement” that restricts banks’ ability to function independently. You can watch transfer policy video below. What AIBEA GS said?
“DFS has no authority to issue such micro-level circulars to banks as transfers are internal matters governed by each bank’s policies. The government cannot start dictating transfers and promotions,” said CH Venkatachalam, general secretary of the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA).
On Tuesday, the DFS issued a circular outlining changes to the transfer policy of public sector banks. These include automating the transfer process, ensuring women employees are relocated closer to their preferred areas, avoiding mid-year transfers, and assigning employees to regions where their native language is spoken. The DFS cited a rising number of complaints and grievances from bank employees over existing transfer policies as the reason for the intervention. “The revised guidelines aim to promote greater transparency and fairness in transfer processes,” the circular stated. However, unions remain unconvinced, warning that the DFS’s involvement in such internal matters could set a dangerous precedent and weaken banks’ decision-making autonomy. The debate continues as both sides weigh the implications of the new policy on governance and employee satisfaction. What you think of this, please let us know in the comment section.
AIBEA is very wrong , government has brought a very good policy for bankers this was the need of the hour.. management never take care of posting, and most of the employees suffer..we as a banker are with government decisions
How sad above comments are! Actually, AIBEA is always here in industry to safeguard the interests of award staff in banks. Bank managements always tries to harass award staff and one of their tools is transfer policy. Present transfer policy of clerical transfer upto 100 kms distance is also painful in some regions. Management now wants unlimited transfer powers, against which AIBEA has rightfully registered its denial. Those who don’t want stability in life can always join or get promoted in bank as an officer and enjoy lifelong nationwide transferable job after every 3 years.
Why the union is opposing. We are suffering a lot and management is very harsh on our posting.
AIBEA running by foolish people. And they don’t want something good in favor of employees whether it is a women or PWD or male employee. AIBEA shall be dissolved immediately.
I know what they do. They don’t interfere even when someone is in trouble. I am PWD and posted 200kms away from hometown. Have raised objections but no one cares !!
Union’s role is diminished to transfer and wage negotiation. And ofcourse organising cricket matches and giving flowers/chocolate at events like retirement or women’s day. That’s all of it. How can government pose potential threat to it’s very own existence? What will they do if majority of them don’t approach them? If faith in system is achieved what can be future of union ?. Union is ensuring it has a future here. Nothing else.
This is not as such AIBEA opposes. It is CH Venkatachalam who opposes the welfare for the Bank staffs across the country. Who doesn’t want or prefer posting at own linguistic areas? He just want to destroy the dream of every bankers posted at their home state
We think AIBEA is wrong in this case, every employee in banking sector fallen victim to HR policies of respective banks, we faced many issues in transfers and we think that governments decision to intefare In banks regulation is good for all of us hence I oppose AIBEA
